SHORT SPEECH BY THE CHAIRMAN IGBO CULTURAL SOCIETY AUSTRIA AT THE OCASSION OF THEIR 20TH ANNIVERSARY AND NEW YAM FESTIVAL 2016
Your Excellency Charge D affair Embassy of Nigeria and Slovakia, MrJ.N.Dantim, respected members of the Nigerian Diplomatic Corps, Respected Chiefs and NzenaOzors, respected ex-chairman of the Igbo Cultural Society Austria, , President National Association of Nigeria Community in Austria Mr. OsayiOsaro,Hon. BR. Joe Dim, BR. Chief Ing. Ike Okafor, Leaders of Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities, Reverend Clergies, respected cooperation’s partners, Elders and opinion builders of here present, ladies and gentlemen, it is our happiness on behalf of the ICS to welcome you to this August occasion.
Thank you for joining us as we reminisce about a journey that began 20 years ago. The Stake holders and founding fathers of ICS got it right when the made frantic efforts at the formation stage to think deep about today’s ICS. The road has not been very smooth but the inspiring spirit to drive the apex association forward has been great and sustaining.
The ICS is an integrative factor in the ethnic national communities here in Vienna.
We have at least produced three National presidents of NANCA.
Our loyalty holds firm with the Embassy of Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities, sub-unit Igbo associations.
ICS has grown from strength to strength over the years, thanks the unmeasurable efforts of the elders, our opinionbuilders and our youth whose drive into the main stream has been commendable.
The 20. Anniversary is an achievement, but we know and we deserve the courage and patience to best harness it for our coming generation here in our host country, Austria.
The 20th. Anniversary has not provided us the ticket to leave this country back to Nigeria; still our mind and spirits belong to our home country. Eat or west home is the best.
We have produced an exemplary Brochure for this event. I want to use this ample opportunity to thank those who have felicitated with us, those who have expressed their feelings and concerns in the Brochure.
We thank our ex. Ambassador HE Ayoko for the forward message of encouragement to ICS. God will bless you all in plenty for showing concern.
Tonight we want to entertain you with our cultural activities. Our Bar is inexhaustible and our cousins’ ethnic in nature for your well desired services.
Enjoy your selves and help us make this anniversary and NYF a memorable one.
Your Excellency thanks again for making out time to attend our occasion in spite of your already constrained time. Your presence here is our inspiration.
